Our vision and mission
Supporting the engineering & manufacturing sector.
Our vision
Empowering the supply chain and SMEs to shape national policy and championing skills as the engine of productivity and sustainable growth in UK engineering and manufacturing.
Our mission
The Policy Centre’s mission is to act as a catalyst for collaboration between the supply chain & SMEs, UK Government, and sector stakeholders, driving policy solutions that strengthen skills, productivity, and growth across engineering and manufacturing.

What we do
We unify and amplify the voice of the UK's engineering and manufacturing SMEs and the supply chain.
Using data, independent research, and direct engagement, we generate deep insight and bring industry and sector collaborators together to shape solutions and policy recommendations for the issues that matter most to SMEs and the supply chain.
By placing SME and supply chain success and sustainability at the heart of skills and industrial policy, we enable stronger supply chains, drive productivity, and unlock growth across businesses of every size powering the UK economy forward.

Who we are
A trusted voice in skills data and insight.
Enginuity is a self-funded charity, investing £2 million each year to improve access to skills in the UK’s engineering and manufacturing sector. As an SME, we understand the challenges smaller businesses face and design practical, scalable solutions. By combining sector data with deep skills expertise and engaging with employer-led groups, we gather insight, test ideas, and shape policies.
Today, through The Policy Centre, we amplify the voice of SMEs and the supply chain, provide evidence-based insights, and campaign for policy change.

The shared challenge
SME representation
SMEs are the backbone of the engineering and manufacturing sector and the supply chain, representing more than 90% of the sector.
Skills shortage
In a recent survey, 76% of SMEs reported that labour and skills shortages had harmed their business, affecting productivity and growth.
Stronger supply chains
By putting SME and supply chain success at the heart of policy, we can strengthen businesses and drive UK growth.
"SMEs are the lifeblood of the UK economy yet often fail to be heard by those making policy in key areas at the heart of government – and those honing policy need to listen. This is where Enginuity’s Policy Centre can really come in to its own.”
Ann Watson
Chief Executive Officer at Enginuity
