T Levels offer young people a valuable route into technical careers, combining classroom learning with industry placements. However, more needs to be done to help employers understand the benefits these qualifications can bring to their businesses and the wider engineering and manufacturing sector.

This T Levels Week, we’re highlighting our work with the Gatsby Charitable Foundation to raise awareness of Engineering and Manufacturing T Levels and encourage more employers to get involved.

Helping employers understand the value of T Levels

Funded by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, our project focuses on helping employers across England understand how T Level students can contribute to their businesses, how to offer industry placements and how T Levels can support future recruitment.

Engineering and manufacturing face ongoing skills challenges, and connecting employers with emerging talent is an important part of addressing them. By raising awareness of T Levels and the opportunities they offer, we want to encourage stronger links between education and industry, benefiting both employers and young people.

The project uses Enginuity’s employer network and sector partnerships to share information, promote engagement and help businesses understand how they can support T Level students.

Sharing real employer experiences

A key part of our work is showcasing the experiences of businesses that have engaged with T Levels, helping other employers understand what taking on a student can look like in practice.

Our campaigns have featured engineering and manufacturing employers including HF Bond, Farrat, Redpack Machinery, Quantamatic, Lyndhurst Precision Engineering, R&B Switchgear Group and Rigging Projects.

Through written and video case studies, these businesses share their experiences of T Level industry placements and the benefits they can bring. These examples offer practical insights for employers considering placements and demonstrate how businesses can play a part in developing future talent.

We’ve also supported awareness through webinars with T Level providers, engagement at events and activities highlighting the qualifications and their potential.

Working together to strengthen future skills

Our work with Gatsby forms part of Enginuity’s wider commitment to helping the UK engineering and manufacturing sector develop the skills it needs, at the right time.

By bringing employers and education closer together, we can help make technical pathways better understood and encourage more businesses to consider how they can support young people entering the sector.

This T Levels Week, we’re celebrating the learners, educators and employers helping to make technical education a success. Through continued collaboration and greater awareness, we want to help more young people access opportunities in engineering and manufacturing, while supporting employers to develop the talent their businesses need for the future.
